The sixth Gourmet Festival in Vienna
This Mother’s Day weekend, from May 10th – 12th, 2013, gourmands’ hearts will be beating faster once again this year – for the sixth year, the Kulinarische Erbe Österreich (Austrian Culinary Heritage), in collaboration with the city of Vienna, invites visitors to the Genuss Festival (Gourmet Festival) in Vienna’s beautiful Stadtpark. About 130.000 visitors are expected in 2013 as well – like in previous years.
The excursion tip for Mother’s Day – with guaranteed enjoyment
The popular culinary festival for everyone who enjoys fine food and drink has a lot to offer in 2013 as well. This year, more than 150 producers are introducing their specialties and offering them for tasting and purchase. This year’s program includes fresh variety from every region in Austria, from Vorarlberg to Burgenland, from the Waldviertel in Lower Austria to Carinthia. In addition to new products such as specialties made of Alpine herbs, Pöllau Hirschbirne (a type of pear from the Pöllau Valley region of Styria), or vegetable rarities of times past such as Forellenbohne (lit. “trout bean,” a type of bean), visitors have the opportunity to “talk shop” and chat directly with numerous producers of high-quality chocolates, mustards, marmalades, vinegars and oils, fish, meat and cheese products, baked goods, spices and much more.
This year’s gourmet tent should be the focus of the Austrian National Parks. Moreover, there will be an organic juice and drink bar, as well as opportunities for children to play.
